We cross a succession of arid landscapes, towns and small cities. Arrive in Essaouira early in the morning, then go on a full tour of the monuments of this peaceful city, which include: the port, the Skkala, the medina and the Jewish city. Essaouira is a small fortified city on the edge of the Atlantic. Located 180 kilometers west of Marrakech, the city is a less touristy place where people are generally friendlier and where you press less to buy. Upon arrival, you will explore the small town from the port, the Portuguese fortress, the old medina, the art museum, the sekkala and the old Kewish neighborhood.
Essaouira is one of the quiet smallest lovely town in Morocco as it has a unique weather and lovely beach and an interesting old history. It is the coastal wind the beautifully named alizee, or taros in Berber – that has allowed Essaouira to retain its traditional culture and character.
Leave Marrakech at 08:00, ready for a 3-hour journey to the beautiful Essaouira on the Atlantic Coast. Once you arrive at the port city, formerly known as Mogador, you will have time to enjoy the charming sights of Essaouira, including its ochre-coloured walls, the beautiful Moulay El Hassan square, and the souks, as well as the little streets of the city's old Medina. Enjoy a lunch of fresh fish in a local restaurant.
During your trip, visit an association of Berber women producing argan oil, see the local markets, and marvel at the gems in the jeweller's quarter.
You will return to Marrakech at the end of the afternoon, arriving back to the "Red City" at around 19:00.
