Whether you have just bought your first camera or are already an avid photographer, our Morocco photography tour offer great opportunities for those who love photography and travel. It is well known that you can photograph almost anywhere in Morocco, but we have designed this tour to satisfy all interests in photography and visit some special places. with our long experience, we will try to share our knowledge about photography and Morocco, and support everyone’s creativity with ideas and tips to create narrative and dynamic travel photographs. Our journey together will include one-on-one and group discussions, inspiring ideas, and lots of fun! We are excited to offer you a unique, private photography trip, taking you from high mountains and valleys to crowded royal cities and from the deep Sahara desert to the Atlantic Ocean!
Day 1: Transfer from Casablanca airport – Chefchaoun.
We meet at the airport to get acquainted, then drive about 3 hours to the reef mountains where the small town of Chefchaoun is located on the edge of two peaks. Depending on when we arrive in Chefchaoun, we may have time to take some first photos in the blue town of Chefchaoun.
Day 2: Chefchaoun
We wake up in this charming town with its narrow and steep streets paved with stones polished by thousands of feet over the centuries. The houses are painted in blue, white, azure, indigo and violet and have blue shutters and richly decorated doors. As we begin to explore this beautiful town nestled in the reef mountains, it will become apparent that the photographic opportunities are endless.
Day 3: Chefchaoun – Fes
After breakfast, we begin our drive to the old city of Fes, a treasure of the medieval world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walking through the maze of streets of the medina, you will literally traverse 1,300 years of Moroccan heritage. This is a spectacular medina where time seems to have stopped and you will be drawn to photos at every turn. With a local guide, you’ll see veiled women and laughing children, donkeys pulling carts, and vendors carrying huge mounds of bread on trays above their heads. It’s a maze of intricate alleyways dotted with carpet makers, handlooms and merchants’ palaces. Photograph the finely carved stucco walls, arches and cornices. Zoom in on the exquisite mosaics covering the Nejjarine Fountain and visit the Kairaouine Mosque. Enjoy the souk where merchants sell mountains of colorful spices, carpets, silk and leather goods, and visit the legendary tanneries where the city’s famous leather that passed from generation to generation.
Day 4: Fes – Imilchil.
Our four days will be dedicated to nature, small villages, Berber mountain people and fields. We leave Fes early in the morning and drive to Ifran; the Switzerland of Morocco, as it is known for its exceptional character. We then continue to Azro Forest where we stop to photograph the Barbary Apes, one of Morocco’s most beautiful native animals. The route continues through Midelt and the High Atlas Mountains via Tizi n’Telghemt(1903m). After the Atlas Mountains, the landscape changes to a more desert-like and arid landscape. We drive on a small road through the fields where the locals still work among the amazing colors of the poplars, especially in autumn. We reach Imilchil before sunset and stop to take pictures of one of the lakes that are there, like Tislit (the groom). Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 5: Imilchil – Todgha gorge- Tizi n Tzazert – Nkob.
Another adventurous day starts early for those interested in photographing the sunrise over the lake. After breakfast, we descend along the river into Todgha Gorge. After lunch we will continue to Tizi n T’zazert. We will drive offroad between the amazing volcanic mountains of Jbel Saghro. There are often nomads grazing their herds in the area. In the late afternoon we will reach Nkob where we will spend the night.
Day 6: Nkob – Zagoura – Chegaga Dunes
Be sure to take a photo from the terrace of our hotel in Nkob, where the palm trees and kasbahs in the background are impressive! After half an hour’s drive, we will reach the famous Draa Valley, which stretches 200 km along palm groves and remote villages. We will see the inhabitants working in their fields and notice the black African roots. We will follow the valley for an hour and arrive in Zagoura, the capital of the date. Lunch will be taken there or later in Mhamid. We drive off road for 2 hours through the stony desert and over the dunes. We arrive at Chegaga dunes where the experience of riding a camel for a few minutes and watching the sunset over the dunes will make your day special, especially after a long day. The evening and dinner in the tents with the music of drums will be a fascinating experience. For those who want to photograph the stars, this is an excellent opportunity to test your night photography skills.
Day 7: Chegaga Dunes – Fint
If you get up early, the sunrise over the Chegaga dunes always offers amazing colours when the first rays of light hit the ground. Our day starts again with the journey over the sandy terrain to the dry lake of IRIKI, where its flat surface and the mountains of the Anti-Atlas in the background will open your mind to creativity. We reach the town of Foumzguid, where after a tea or coffee break we continue to our lunch spot. After lunch we arrive at the oasis of Fint where our hotel sits above a beautiful view of a sea of palm trees.
Day 8: Fint Oasis – Ait ben Haddou – Marrakech
Here you can take beautiful pictures in the palm trees and by the river of Fint. We will drive to Ksar-Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987 and famous as a backdrop for many Hollywood blockbusters. We continue to Marrakech via the famous Tizi n Tichka pass (2260m), which offers beautiful views of the villages and snow-capped mountains in winter. Night in Marrakech in the early morning.
Day 9: Full day in Marrakech
The medina of Marrakech is just as it was centuries ago, full of artisans, street vendors and bright colours. Walking through the ancient streets of Marrakech, you will feel an incredible old-world magic. The city is a photographer’s paradise, which is best expressed through your lens. Capture the colourful chaos of Djemma el Fna Square, where photo opportunities abound at every turn, from snake charmers and magicians to chefs and musicians. Wander through the souks, a stunning maze of covered markets where artisans practice their ancient skills. Highlights of the souks include metal workers, dyers and wood carvers. Visit the Ben Youssef Madrasa, a fine example of traditional Moroccan architecture. The intricate tile mosaics and carvings are exquisite.
Day 10: Marrakech – Essaouira
Nestled between the rugged Moroccan countryside and the sea, Essaouira is a charming whitewashed fishing village. It is a wonderful mix of French and Moroccan influences with a distinctive atmosphere of Moroccan spices, narrow streets, colour, art and music. You will find plenty of opportunities to take your camera out and then relax over a hearty fish dinner.
Day 11: Essaouira – Casablanca airport
