Hike at the base of Mount Toubkal, north Africa’s highest peak, on a trip from Marrakech to the mountain community of Imlil, where the surrounding hills are carved into steeply terraced gardens. You’ll have the option to set out on foot through the vast, open terrain, or hire a mule or horse for a trail ride to remote villages set high in the Atlas Mountains.
Your Day trip to Imlil From Marrakech begins with a pick-up at your Marrakech hotel at 09:00. From there you’ll head out on a 5-hour excursion into the Atlas Mountains. in route you’ll have views of a variety of landscapes, mountain streams, colored rock cliffs, valleys, and Berber villages.
Visit the local souks at Tahanaout and Asni (on Tuesdays and Saturdays), for an opportunity to photograph these colorful, traditional rural markets that are bustling with activity.
Continue on to Imlil, where you’ll enjoy hillside views overlooking local villages. From here, you can choose an optional mule trek through scenic countryside and remote villages, a hike through similarly beautiful terrain and visit the Kasbah of Toubkal where you can sit, relax and have a lunch break at your own expense. At the end of the tour you’ll be transferred back to your hotel in Marrakech.
