This demanding trek involves enduring long, grueling climbs over rocky terrain, making it particularly well-suited for exploration during the summer. Notably, it’s the exclusive route via Ifni Lac to ascend Mount Toubkal. Additionally, for those seeking a unique contrast, consider incorporating hiking adventures in the vibrant city of Marrakech as part of this enriching experience.
Meet our driver at your Hotel/Riad in the morning for a direct transfer to Imlil (1700m), the base of Mount Toubkal. Commence the trek with a climb leading to Tizi N’Tamatert (2279m), experiencing picturesque Berber villages along the way. Continue the journey to the village of Tachdirte, where our camp is set up by the local crew at 2400m. (1-hour transfer, 5-hour walk)
After breakfast, embark on a 3.5-hour climb to Tizi n’Likemt (3550m), pausing to admire the panoramic views over the Tachdirt valley and surrounding mountains. Following a brief descent, stop for lunch and continue for an hour to reach our bivouac near Aazib n’Likemt, where nomadic shepherds with their flocks can be encountered. Overnight at the camp. (6-hour walk)
Embark on a day of trekking through the pastures of the high mountains to reach Tizi Oarai (3109m). Descend into the Tinzar valley, pause for lunch, and appreciate the architectural charm of Berber village houses. Cross the High Atlas ridge to reach the southern slopes of the Atlas, culminating in a night at a Berber house. (5.5-hour walk)
