On this Morocco atlas mountains trek ( Jbel Sirwa) 7 Days you will Embark on a journey to the Anti-Atlas, a distinct mountain range accessible through the High Atlas. The primary goal of this trek is to climb Djebel Sirwa, an exquisite peak enveloped by picturesque villages, the sheep pens of Irhiri, and the breathtaking vistas characteristic of any trek in Morocco.
Commencing our journey with an early departure from Marrakech, we reach Taliouine (984m), a prominent starting point for treks in the Jebel Sirwa massif. Loading up our mules, we embark on the initial leg of our trek—a straightforward and leisurely stroll lasting approximately 4 to 5 hours, leading us to Akhfamane (1250m). Here, we lodge for the night in a traditional Berber house (gite). Alternatively, if our arrival from Marrakech is delayed, we have the option to drive to Akhfamane.
Our second day’s expedition guides us through two river valleys and eventually to our campsite at Ti n’Iddr (1600m). The journey spans around 6 hours of walking through generally barren terrain with minimal shade. Along the way, we pass through small, quintessential Berber villages surrounded by terraced landscapes.
Marking a more challenging leg of the journey, today requires 6 to 7 hours of walking as we gradually ascend 1000m to Tegragra (2650m), our camping spot for the night. The path becomes demanding as we traverse Atougha, the final village before the summit of Sirwa. Beyond Atougha, the trail narrows, featuring steep sections with numerous zigzags. We pass just below Jebel Guiliz (2905m) before reaching a sizable pool where our camp is established.
An early start ensures that we reach the summit of Sirwa (3305m) before the day’s full heat sets in. The ascent takes 2 to 3 hours, involving challenging terrain, steep climbs, scrambling, and ridge walking. The panoramic views from the summit make the effort worthwhile. Descending to Tizgui (2200m), where we camp for the night, consumes approximately 4 hours.
Continuing our gradual descent, we traverse several typical villages en route to Tizlit (1700m), where we establish our camp for the night. The journey spans about 5 hours of walking.
Covering a substantial distance of approximately 20 km, this day entails easygoing terrain and should take around 6 to 7 hours. Our descent continues through terraced fields and small Berber villages, concluding at Tinfat, where we spend the night in a Berber house (gite) or camp.
Departing from Jebel Sirwa, we travel from Tinfat through Taliouine, concluding our adventure with a return journey to Marrakech.
