We invite you to get lost with us in the labyrinthine streets of Morocco’s medieval and colonial cities, and then find refuge (and mint tea) in the tranquility of the Riads.
Travel with us on this Morocco photo tour to the Sahara Desert, where you’ll watch the sun rise over the highest golden sand dunes. For the more adventurous, there’s the option of going even deeper into the desert on a camel and spending the night in Berber tents under the stars.
This photo tour has been specially designed to give you an authentic experience of Morocco. A combination of medieval cities, colonial towns, mountains, rugged coastlines and golden deserts. Morocco is truly a photographer’s dream. An adventure awaits you on our photo journey to exotic Morocco.
Upon arrival in Casablanca, the economic capital of Morocco, you will be picked up and transferred by minibus to your hotel in Casablanca, where you will check in and relax for the afternoon. The group will meet to greet each other and get oriented before going to dinner at a local restaurant serving traditional Moroccan cuisine.
In the morning, you will visit the Hassan II Mosque, then walk around the city to photograph some of the Art Deco buildings and local food markets. After lunch, an optional photography class and photo discussion will take place with the guide.
After breakfast, we leave Casablanca for Chefchaouen, Morocco’s famous blue city located in the Rif Mountains. On the way, we will stop in Rabat, the capital and residence of the king, where we will be able to take great pictures of the Hassan Tower and the mausoleum. We will also visit Chellah (ancient ruins of a fortified city and the possibility to photograph storks’ nests). Upon arrival in Chefchaouen, you will check in at Riad Lina and have an early dinner. After dinner, you will have the opportunity to take night photos with your guide. Dinner is served in a local restaurant.

After breakfast, you will visit this cool blue city, hidden in the mountains. You will enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of the Rif mountains. This blue city is perfect for taking pictures and offers all shades of blue. Walking through the streets of Chaouen, you will have ample opportunity to capture the vivid colors and textures of this beautiful city.
We’ll have an early dinner and then take a walk on the surrounding mountainside, where you can photograph the town whitened by dusk. Dinner will be at a local restaurant.
After breakfast, you will drive to Fez, the cultural and spiritual capital of Morocco. Upon arrival in Fez, you will go directly to the potters. During this fascinating visit, you will get an idea of how this craft has existed for hundreds of years. After check-in, you will have some time for a possible photo discussion or Q&A with the guide.
You will have a wonderful traditional dinner in the riad.
After breakfast, you will begin your guided tour of the medina (with over 9500 alleys), one of the largest walled cities in the world. You will explore the narrow streets lined with fresh fruits and spices, tanneries and artisans of Fez. At noon, you will have lunch in traditional restaurants in the heart of the medina. After lunch, you will have some time to leisurely explore the Galawi Palace (a model in traditional dress will also pose for us). This old palace is now in ruins, but it offers a wonderful glimpse of Moroccan architecture and is a photographer’s paradise. In the late afternoon, you will have some free time to relax before dinner and sunset at a spectacular viewpoint over the city.
After a relaxed breakfast, you will have the opportunity to visit the Jewish Quarter. The group will have lunch on the Boujloud square. In the afternoon, you will have the opportunity to do some shopping (carpets, linen, silverware) or to take pictures in the medina (a guide will be at your disposal so that you don’t get lost).
After a morning breakfast, you will begin your ascent through the Middle Atlas Mountains. You will spend most of the day traversing the beautiful forests, rugged cliffs and Berber villages as you cross the Atlas Mountains and begin your descent towards the Sahara. on our way down, you will stop for lunch in Midelt town, well known for its fossils and rocks. In the afternoon, you will descend the Ziz River valley, past Erfoud and to our gateway at the edge of the Sahara. The sunrise and sunset over the dunes is worth a visit. We arrange a camel caravan in the dunes for sunset pictures.
Don’t miss the sunrise on the dunes. In the morning, take an optional ATV ride through the dunes and visit a nomadic Berber village. Listen to their music while taking pictures of some of the people. For those who seek adventure and want to take photos of the desert, head out on a camel for a 2-hour trek to the oasis, where you’ll spend the night in Berber tents (dinner under the stars included). A night photo op under the stars in the desert is magical!
After breakfast, return to the Auberge by camel and drive back to Erfoud. From Erfoud, you will make your way behind the High Atlas Mountains to Ait Ben Haddou. On the way, stop in Ourzazate, the film capital of Morocco. The picturesque river valleys make for a beautiful drive through the High Atlas Mountains. Depending on your arrival time, we will depart for our first sunset/blue hour photo shoot at the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou.
Before the city fully awoke, we walked up Ait Ben Haddou in the early morning light. In fact, this backdrop has been used for more films than any other location in Morocco, including Lawrence of Arabia, Jesus of Nazareth, and most recently Gladiator.
After a morning of filming, you can spend the rest of the day relaxing. You can go to the hammam, swim, or even get a massage (extra charge). If you like, we will do a second photo shoot at sunset overlooking the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou (at a different location than the first day).
After breakfast, we will drive over the High Atlas Mountains to Marrakech, where we will visit an argan cooperative where the women produce the coveted oil. Take some time to enjoy this beautiful landscape. You will check into your riad and then make your way to the famous Djemaa el-Fna square. This is one of the Famous attractions of Marrakech. The nightlife with local storytellers, entertainers and delicious barbecues is well worth a visit. A quiet cup of tea on the terrace of a neighboring café offers spectacular views of the bustling square at sunset. Dinner is taken in the square at the food stalls (or in the café for the less adventurous).
After breakfast, the group will take a guided tour of Marrakech, the southern pearl of Morocco. You will discover the Majorelle Gardens and many other hidden treasures.
After lunch, you will continue your visit to Djemaa el-Fna square and the souk, where you will have free time to stroll around and shop for exotic items to take home. Our last dinner will be served at the Ryad.
Your car will be waiting to take you to Marrakech airport and your home country. You can also stay a few more days in Marrakech or join our guide for a multi-day excursion to the coastal city of Essaouira.
